Its not very often that you see mixes these days from the German based Modeselektor. They are best known for the edgy dance electronic sounds that incorporate Hip Hop and rock influences. This mix differs from the norm. Its slowed down and spaced out. The sounds are scattered and at times reminds me of controlled chaos of a jazz set. From song to song I really didn’t have a clue what was coming next. To me that is the definition of a perfect mix tape. I wouldn’t expect anything less from Modeselektor.
Modeselektor is once again teasing the electronic music listening public with some excerpts from their September 30th release called “Monkey Town.” Their newest release is going to have two tracks that feature the one and only Thom Yorke from Radiohead. Although you can only get a short glimpse (45 Seconds Worth) of what the full tracks will sound like, they are enough to get me excited. I would of bought the new album just for the fact that Modeselektor is brilliant. Having Thom Yorke collaboration is the cherry on top.
