Yacht – I walked alone (Get a room! Remix)

YACHT – I Walked Alone (Get A Room! Remix) by DFA Records

I have been debating over the last couple of months if I wanted to continue with this blog. Last week I got my answer. On Friday I tried to go to musicayedeedee and got denied. Some hacker caused chaos on our server. I wasn’t able to share this Yacht remix and was actually pretty bummed out.

I have never been so happy to bring a post to you guys. My partner in MusicAyeDeeDee.com and good friend Jim worked hard this weekend to get the site back online. I can’t imagine not being able to share all this brilliant music to you. 2012 is going to be increasingly more complicated. The posts may slow at times but I will be here trying to bring you the best of the best.

So here is the best remix I have heard so far in 2012. I love the original Yacht version but this remix makes me dance like a fool every time I hear it. The builds are perfect. The vocal selection and placement aren’t too repetitive and highlight everything that made this track so catchy in the first place. So just a fare warning… If you decide to hit play, you will have to come back again and again to hear more.

Yacht – Shangri-la

Yacht

I managed to get my greedy little hands on the new Yacht album “Shangri-la” weeks before it’s release.  Portland’s own Yacht is back with another electronic quirky pop/funk album that will make existing fans appreciate the wait on new material.

They approached Shangri-la a little differently than the first album.  The first recording was basically a home, bedroom-style recording.  It was composed one track channel at a time.  For Shangri-la they recorded, wrote, and composed everything in the studio.  The result is a very polished sound even though the album was made on the fly.

Another difference on this album was the influence from their latest tour.  In an interview I watched on the duo, they brought up the influence touring with LCD Soundsystem had on them.  The funny thing is that when I was listening to the album previously, I actually thought that some of the songs had a LCD Soundsystem vibe.

They do a great job incorporating the electronic with the live instrumentation.  I have a feeling this new tour will make new fans.  The new tracks lend themselves to some epic live jams.  I will definitly keep my eyes peeled for tour dates in the South East.  Unfortunately all the tour dates released are for europe and or nyc…
